The Format Giving Away Free Albums

Comments Off on The Format Giving Away Free Albums

The Format has decided to give away their 2006 album, Dog Problems. Starting June 25th, for 20 days you will be able to obtaion their album in full of their website. Here is what the band had to say about the situation:

Owning our own publishing and master has allowed us the freedom to experiment,. We?d be doomed if we sat around and waited for things like radio play to come around. We?re just not that band.

We understand the reality; kids aren?t buying music. We?re going to see if we can?t pick up 20,000 new sets of ears by offering the album for free. We?re betting that the money lost on those record sales will come back when people come see us live this summer.

This will be a chance to share the album with your friends who haven’t bought it or fileshared it

Make sure to get your chance on a few album, visit The Format‘s site on June 25th, TheFormat.com

The Receiving End Of Sirens New Album Title Explained

Comments Off on The Receiving End Of Sirens New Album Title Explained

The Receiving End Of Sirens recently posted an explanation to the title of their new album, The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi:

The title, The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi stems from a book written by a late 16th century astronomical theorist by the name of Johannes Kepler and the publication just fascinated the band. Kepler?s theory suggested that each of the 9 planets in our solar system produced tones as they orbited the sun. Throughout the orbit, Venus would stay a consistent note that was considered the 6th in relation to the rest of the planets. As Earth would shift its tonality, it would create the effect of the notes moving from the major 6th to the minor 6th and back and forth. This is where the ?Mi Fa Mi? comes into action, symbolizing the corresponding syllables when singing a scale in relation to the notes of the earth {Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do}. Kepler further concurred that the Earth ?singing? Mi Fa Mi could truly stand for Misery, Famine, Misery and ultimately, that is the song the Earth and Venus continued to sing. Misery, referring to an empty place and Famine, referring to the appetite or thirst for things.

Studio Update: Dillinger Escape Plan

Comments Off on Studio Update: Dillinger Escape Plan

Here’s a recent update by Dillinger Escape Plan about their new album, posted on their myspace:

We start official album tracking this week in the secret underground recording location in Alaska.

Ben is flying there. Probably first class. Maybe a private jet. Cause he rolls like that. Honestly I think it’s because he wants to get there a couple days before me and Liam get there cause he needs those days of peace. We’re gonna fight one another and Steve Evetts battle royale style probably for about 90% of the time.

Liam and I are driving there because we’re fucking crusty and don’t give a fuck and we’ll probably have more adventures driving anyway. Or we’ll kill one another/ourselves because:

A) we’re both assholes
B) we have vowed to not sleep the entire time by any means necessary and he has fucking narcolepsy anyway and may fall asleep behind the wheel
C) after “Dyer’s Eve” plays for the five hundredth time with the stereo dimed he will hurl himself from the car
D) after the five hundredth Bjork song I will hurl myself from the car

Igl Aronesh

Regular updates from the studio soon. If you see me and Liam on the highway do not engage us. We are basically more or less gonna be rock n roll zombie after the first 24 hours of non-stop driving and will probably run you off the road.

Greeley Estates Updates

Comments Off on Greeley Estates Updates

It’s been 5 years since Greeley Estates was formed and Dallas has decided to step away from the band for a few reasons. Here’s a lengthy post by Dallas of Greeley Estates:

hey everybody! five years ago when ryan and i started this band, we had no idea that our lil’ project writing songs together would end up going anywhere. we only had one goal for ourselves: maybe we’d play a show by the end of the first year, and if we didn’t, hey, at least we tried.

now, 5 years, 500,000 miles, 1000 shows, 2 entire warped tours, 1 taste of chaos, 7 national & canadian tours, 2 wrecked vans, 3 totalled trailers, and 1 rolled rv later, i’m blown away to think of where our band has ended up!

a series of occurrences lead me to the difficult decision of stepping away from greeley estates, the most important of which being my upcoming plunge into fatherhood. (my wife and i are expecting a baby girl sometime in the next month or so!) this along with some other crazy things happening in my life are putting a strain on my ability to tour as much as we have in the past.

this of course isn’t fair to the other dudes, so we began searching for someone to fill in my spot as a touring guitarist with the intention that he would eventually be able to take over the official lead guitar spot. God provided us with alex, a super rad and talented dude who was able to fill in for me. Well, things progressed a lot faster than any of us had originally thought, and alex is officially now the new guitarist, which i think is a great move for the band. from what the dudes tell me he’s awesome in each and every way. i’m stoked to see what he brings to the table.

it was originally the thought that i’d be involved in the writing and recording of the new album, but i’m sorry to say that since then, the other dudes have decided that they’d prefer me not to be involved and to make a clean start on this album. i can’t say i’m not disappointed by this, but i understand where they’re coming from and they feel it will be best for the album.

anywhoo, this makes my final show at the clubhouse in tempe, az on june 20th my official last hurrah with greeley estates! if you’re able to make it out, i’d definitely love to see you all and say goodbye! i’m requesting that we play some songs we either never play or haven’t played in a while (atom doesn’t lie, always, secret, etc.) so it should be a pretty rad show! come see us butcher your favorites! 🙂

that being said, I just want to take the time to let you know how much all of you fans has meant to me. you’ve shown more love and support than i deserve or could ever begin to repay you for. I realize that we’re nothing special and that we’re just dudes with instruments strapped around our necks and hopefully we’ve never treated you like you weren’t worth our time, because you’ve meant everything to us. thank you for always making us feel welcome in your cities and for taking the time to hang out with us at the shows and at denny’s/tacobell/mcdonalds/whatever happened to still be open at 2am after the shows.

IF YOU NEVER REMEMBER ANYTHING ABOUT ME AGAIN, PLEASE REMEMBER THIS: each and every one of you is important, and your lives have meaning and value, God loves all of you, and you’re no matter how crappy life gets, you’re never really alone. if i’ve ever done anything to make you feel otherwise, i can’t begin to say how sorry i am for it. i love you guys and i’ll miss you.

thanks to the other dudes i’ve had the privilege of sharing my life with these past 5 years, ryan, brandon, and brian, you guys are the best! I wish you all the good things in the world as the band plugs on. applebizzle, I miss you too and hope teaching is going well. brad, I got 5 stars on six on expert. you know what I mean. stewart and judy teggart, thanks for the opportunities and guidance. trent knight, thanks for getting me through my ER rotation and for believing in our band. ed treat, thanks for all the gear you’ve leant us throughout the years. tim towner, thanks for being so involved with our band for so many years. andrew, shane, anton thanks for putting up with us and for keeping us safe on the road and the tours managed so well. thanks to everyone who’s fed, housed, or prayed for our band. we appreciate it.

ok! so i’ll see you guys on the 20th of june at the clubhouse! adios dudes and dudettes!

New Found Glory has updated their status of From The Screen To Your Stereo Part 2, a concept album follow up of cover songs from movies. Read more below:

Just a quick update on what’s been up with NFG. We are currently recording “From The Screen To Your Stereo Part 2” in good ol’ Texas. We have finished drums, bass and rhythm guitars on 11 songs so far (one more to go). Still many lead guitars and keys to record, and we have no vocals done yet. But everything is sounding amazing. We are producing the CD ourselves with some help from Paul Miner (engineer). Not much else to tell you for now. Can’t wait to see everyone on Warped Tour this summer. I can’t speak for others, but it feels great to me to no longer be on Geffen. Feels like a fresh start. This recording has been stress free and exciting. I can promise you this CD is gonna kick the shit out of Part 1. I’m not going to tell you any of the songs we picked, but I can feel already they will be a blast to play live. Look forward to seeing you all soon.

The Receiving End Of Sirens Press Release

Comments Off on The Receiving End Of Sirens Press Release

Here’s the press release for The Receiving End Of Sirens new album The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi:

The Receiving End of Sirens is gearing up to release their second studio album, The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi, out August 7th on Triple Crown Records. Produced by Matt Squire (Panic at the Disco, Boys Like Girls, Hit The Lights), this album is the band’s most altruistic, enthralling and skillful work to date.

The initiative behind this record has allowed TREOS (Alex Bars-vox/gutiar, Brendan Brown-vox/bass, Andrew Cook-drums, Nate Patterson-guitar/keys, Brian Southall- guitar) the lucidity to create more sophisticated sounds. The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi, is an artfully driven aural experience – built up of synergetic instrumental measures and intense lyrics that flow brilliantly transcending one song to the next. ?I think the songs on this album are a lot more selfless,? Brown explains when asked how he considers the album a progression from the band?s debut. ?Instead of projecting what we wanted onto a song we just let it sort of play itself out, so I think there?s a lot more space and groove,? he continues. ?The idea was that the song was already out there in outer space; it was just our job to put the pieces together.?

?Smoke and Mirrors? vital melodies, massive guitar riffs, and commanding drums is the highlight track on the album. ?A Realization of the Ear? and ?Swallow People Whole? fully realize the electronic elements that have always been inherent in the band?s sound to add a new dimension to their seasoned brand of critically acclaimed music; the nearly seven-minute long opus ?The Heir Of Empty Breath? is equal parts climactic and cathartic and shows the band stretching out both sonically and spiritually. ?This time around, we were more comfortable with ourselves as people, and as a band. We had a few years to figure it out, and when it came time to write this record, we felt prepared and confident in what we were doing, and we hope that shows,? says drummer, Cook.

The Earth Sings Mi Fa Mi, is proof that The Receiving End of Sirens have immensely matured as composers, musicians and lyricists in the two years since their last album. Having been well-received on tours alongside everyone from Thrice and Circa Survive to Paramore and Senses Fail, The Receiving End of Sirens are not your typical flash in a pan band, they are career artists. ?At this point, I feel like every person who buys our record is a lifelong fan of the band,? Brown summarizes. ?That may not be the easiest way to do things, but it?s the only way we know.? The band plans to headline with support from Emanuel, Envy On The Coast, Hopesfall, and Strangler on various dates. (August – September)

Many people have been confused with the song title that Chiodos played on the Taste Of Chaos. They announced on tour the song was called “I’m naming my kids beer one and beer two”. Then they posted the song on their myspace as untitled. Well to clear things up Chiodos has finally titled the track “Teeth The Size Of Piano Keys”. Oh, and if you’re curious about the lyrics, sing along:

” i dropped all of my lovers.
i stood up and screamed ‘ I’m in love! ‘

you gave it to me through the eyes, hatred.
centuries deep and true.
i was wrong, graceless, and sick.
all of the things that i had learned had been wasted.

there was no living creature as foul as i,
and all of my poems were false.
i could feel my soul, dropping down through the mattress.
i had to leap up before it hit the floor.
and I’m so alone.

illumination held out in front of my reaching arms.
the darker things get the better i see.
I’m so alone and so are you,
we all live and die that way. “

You can find this new song on their upcoming album Bone Palace Ballet.
