In a recent post on Trent Reznor’s blog (lead singer of Nine Inch Nails) he has stressed his opinion on record labels including his own. Read more in his post below:
As the climate grows more and more desperate for record labels, their answer to their mostly self-inflicted wounds seems to be to screw the consumer over even more. A couple of examples that quickly come to mind:
* The ABSURD retail pricing of Year Zero in Australia. Shame on you, UMG. Year Zero is selling for $34.99 Australian dollars ($29.10 US). No wonder people steal music. Avril Lavigne’s record in the same store was $21.99 ($18.21 US).
By the way, when I asked a label rep about this his response was: “It’s because we know you have a real core audience that will pay whatever it costs when you put something out – you know, true fans. It’s the pop stuff we have to discount to get people to buy.”
So… I guess as a reward for being a “true fan” you get ripped off.* The dreaded EURO Maxi-single. Nothing but a consumer rip-off that I’ve been talked into my whole career. No more.
The point is, I am trying my best to make sure the music and items NIN puts in the marketplace have value, substance and are worth you considering purchasing. I am not allowing Capital G to be repackaged into several configurations that result in you getting ripped off.
We are planning a full-length remix collection of substance that will be announced soon.
Michael Thomas, drummer for Bullet For My Valentine, was recently interviewed by UVTV. Here’s a few things he had to say:
This record is more of what we like to do…a lot faster than The Poison, it’s heavier. It’s more of the songs we wanted to do now, The Poison was like a collection of songs that were hanging around forever, three to five years and a few songs have been added to it but this album was written in the space of twelve months…in my eyes it’s a much better album. We write music as a band so we just leave the lyrics to Matt I don’t like the whole emo thing. There’s a song about warfare on this record, a song about someone bullying, then some about demons.
We’re still looking forward for a release date, tracklist, and artwork. Further details will be to come.
In a recent post by Bury Your Dead, they have cleared up any confusion, and made it official who their new lead singer is, Myke Terry. Read more:
With all the recent hurdles Bury Your Dead has faced we are still forging ahead, Michael Crafter sacrificed a lot to come to the US and help out on this tour but unfortunately for him he had to go home with short notice. This does not stop or slow us down in any way, we are completing this tour with the vocal contribution of Myke Terry, formerly of the band “Cassius”.We have not, and will not, cancel any shows on the remainder of this tour, these are trying times for Bury Your Dead but we make these changes to further improve the quality and longevity of this band. Thank you everybody for your support, we will see you shortly.

Another The Offspring Update
Dexter Holland of The Offspring has updated us once again with their progress of their current album:
Hey, I?ve read a few things out there where it has been suggested that some of the songs on our new record might be older material, like outtakes or re-recordings of old songs.
So I just wanted to let you know that the songs we?ve recorded for our upcoming CD are all completely new. We?re not putting any songs on the new record that were previously recorded. That would be cheating, wouldn?t it?
