Bad Religion Protects Again New Album Leak

Comments Off on Bad Religion Protects Again New Album Leak

In a recent post by Bad Religion, they explain the measures they went through to protect the chances of their new album from being leaked. Read more:

One of the things we didn?t do this year is send out a lot of albums to get reviewed by magazines because previously when we sent out like 500 demo CDs for review, one of them would invariably end up on the internet and the entire album is downloaded three months previous to release,” laments Jay.

“We decided to release things through the Epitaph site or the Myspace page, it seems more of our fan base is there that we can kind of target, rather than a bunch of magazines who don?t care what we are doing.

Studio Update: The Blackout

Comments Off on Studio Update: The Blackout

The Blackout has posted a new blog entry on their myspace about their upcoming debut album in the works as well as a possible headlining tour. Read more:

Bono Estentay!

Just a short blog to let you all know what’s going on in the world of ‘The Blackout’. We’re currently writing material for our forthcoming debut album. We start recording June 15th and we’re hoping to have everything finished around July. We’re really excited about the new material as it’s the best we’ve ever written. We’ve got gun fire, high fives, chants, cheesy riffs, dirty riffs, epic riffs, wild choruses and sing-alongs and we’ve even got some filler… ONLY JOKING!! THERE’S F**K ALL FILLER! There’s also a chance we might have a little dvd on the album for you little roustabouts too!

But yeah, be patient and hopefully we’ll have a release around September and a headline tour shortly after. So if you’ve been wondering what we’ve been up to then this is it. So stop wondering you wondering wonderers! As soon as we’re done recording the album we’ll be on the road again doing some festival shows. We’ve got a couple confirmed already, a Ripcurl festival in Newquay UK and the Pukkelpop in Hasselt Belgium. Hopefully we’ll have confirmed some more in the next month or so.

We’ll keep you posted with our monthly blogs, so keep in touch!

One love

Studio Update: A Wilhelm Scream

Comments Off on Studio Update: A Wilhelm Scream

A Wilhelm Scream has recently updated their progress of their new album. Read more from their myspace post:

We’re finishing up the sequencing. It’s gonna be a 13 song joint this time. A few songs are over the five minute mark. They’re for the stoners. The vast majority of the record is fast. Very very fast. Actually, I think the whole thing’s fast. The other two songs we recorded will find their way to you in special ways after the record’s out. Those two songs aren’t that fast (comparatively) so they didn’t make the record. We really like them alot, so they will get released, but hey, they weren’t fuckin’ fast enough!! OK?! This one’s built for speed.

Anyway, we’re now compiling our ideas for artwork together and hopefully will be working with some particularly talented fellows soon to make our random ideas come to life. As fans of Mute Print and the Ruiner maybe could tell, we take the artwork very seriously (even though, as I’m told, nobody buys cds anymore! this shit true?!) and we put lots of effort and time and thought into making sure it goes way over most people’s heads! Avoid success!!! We’re going for a nice mix of both records’ art in style and tone, I think we really got it musically, which was the goal. We fuckin’ killed ourselves on this one to make sure we didn’t disappoint you guys, the ones who have come see us play live the past two years. These are “live” songs for sure. Some are very Mute Print-esque, some remind me of Smackin’ Isaiah, our biggest influence!

The Hush Sound Updates

Comments Off on The Hush Sound Updates

The Hush Sound has recently posted a some updates about their bands progression and about the progress of an upcoming album. Read more in their myspace post:

I must tell you that i haven’t felt like a real person in about 2 years. This band has come from playing in basements to playing on 3 different continents in about 800 or so days. In between we’ve played everywhere from bakersfield california for 7 or 8 people… you know who you are.. Friends backyard parties. small clubs, big clubs, medium sized clubs, strip clubs, night clubs, golf clubs, etc.

All the while i guess i just felt less and less like a person. Sometimes i forget to feel like someone who is waiting for something. Sometimes i forget where we are… or where we are going next… i guess its sheer exhaustion and monotony (not to be confused with monopoly… a fun; but long board game). I really didn’t know how to feel good after a while. I felt uncreative and untalented. I watched the beatles anthology and they talked about how bad they were after touring for a few years… Its interesting touring makes you better and worse simultaneously… i think its because you play the same songs over and over again and even if you want to learn material you are always surrounded by other people who want their own space… etc.

anyways… We’ve been home for a couple weeks now and i started to remember what i love about being in a band, only this time its even better. I moved to the city and i’ve been more productive, creative, and excited for music than i ever have been. (that is a huge statement) I have seen the members of my band grow so much…

Greta was a little girl when we started this band… now she is truly a woman. Darren and Chris have grown too… haha… but seriously.

I’m still me… I guess most people don’t really notice themselves changing… maybe they see an old picture or read an old journal entry. And laugh out loud and be like “wow! I was wearing baggy pants!” or “i liked lorraine… and now shes insane?” and then in a couple years you’ll look at pics from now and be like.. “wow i had a see through shirt on… and you will probably be upset cuz you used to wear it all the time… and you just realized everyone could see everything… but at the time you just thought you were popular b/c you had a cool sound system…” wtf am i talking about?

Sorry… I guess what i’m trying to say is that for the first two albums i was so confused about who i was and i think expecially on like vines i had a hard time figuring it out. Like Vines was a struggle to make… we had just written an album a few months earlier and now we had to make a first album again. I felt pressured and sometimes tense. I think everyone can tell how utterly honest a song like momentum is… it was hard for me to tap into my truest feelings… i was guarded by exhaustion worry and pressure.

There were many times when our band was not getting along and it hurt us all. After a show last winter in buffalo… after touring for a year straight… yet not realizing what it was doing to my body and mainly my mind… i finished the show and started walking downtown. It was (no offense to buffaloan’s…? a little bit scary sometimes. I didn’t have a destination… i just needed to get away from everything. I didn’t plan on ending up at the greyhound station, but when i did… well… lets just say if the ticket line were shorter that tour could have very well ended that night.

After the dates we did with straylight i felt like a wreck. I was so upset and i didn’t know if i would ever write a song again. I was completely clogged in my head. I didn’t know a feeling from an inkling from a joke. I couldn’t decide what i liked… pop, jazz, rock, world… i was completely spread thin… I felt so dead when i decided that it was ridiculus for me to be in a band if i wasn’t getting better… I signed up for 2 guitar lessons and a vocal lesson… bought a bike and moved to the city.

I just started feeling alive a few days ago… maybe it is the bike rides i’ve been enjoying… even though some city drivers are pricks… or the freedom of not living with your (ever so gentle and loving… but still overbearing) parents or what… but i can’t wait to bring the songs i’ve loved writing to the band and make the best album we could possibly make!

Sorry just had to vent a little bit… i’m just lucky to be alive!

best
bob

ps. lets celebrate my rebirth by listening to ernest ranglin’s song “surfin” off of the album “below the bassline”

Radio Station Plays White Stripes Album Without Permission

Comments Off on Radio Station Plays White Stripes Album Without Permission

A radio station in Chicago, Illinois (Q101) played The White Stripes new album Icky Thump without their permission. It then became apparent that the copy of the album that was played on the radio was a bootleg version and now a version they received from the White Stripes or their record label. Lead singer, Jack White, personally called up the radio station and ripped on the studio and the DJ. Jack White was in Spain when he made the call. To read more about the story click here.

The Bled Album Title and Updates

Comments Off on The Bled Album Title and Updates

The Bled recently posted to their myspace their new album title and further updates about their upcoming tour on Projekt Revolution Tour. Read more:

Hey bears

Lots of news. First off, a huge thank you to all the canadian MCR fans and of course MCR themselves for showing us an amazing time in the great white north. Everyone was really fuckin cool to us, and made a little hardcore band from az feel at home when we were totally out of our element ( we usually don’t get the opportunity to bang our heads in soldout arena’s ). We can’t wait to come back up and grab some harvey burgers and timbits with ya’lls.

We are proud to be a part of this years zumiez couch tour, starting tomorrow at fiesta mall in mesa az, and then again on saturday the 9th in dallas (plano) texas at windhaven mall. Both shows are free and will have an awesome skateboard demonstration. So come out and mall rat it up with us, I’ll teach you how to kickflip.

After that we will be enjoying a month and a half off before embarking on one of the craziest and most diverse tours we’ve ever been a part of. PROJEKT REVOLUTION will span the entire US and feature the talents of LINKIN PARK, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, TAKING BACK SUNDAY, HIM, PLACEBO, SAOSIN and a few others. Basically, there is something for everybody on this tour so don’t blow it.

Immediately after that we will be joining up with 2 of our favorite bands to tour with THE USED and SAY ANYTHING on the “ROCKSTAR presents Get A Life Tour”. And then its off to Australia and new zealand on international taste of chaos tour which also features our friends in The Used, we can’t get enough of those dudes. As you can see we are well on our way to covering the globe on our summer/fall tours. Stay tuned and check up on our myspace page (www.myspace.com/thebled) for exact dates and details.

Oh yeah, and we recently finished recording our new disc with brian mcternan in baltimore md. The record is called Silent Treatment and will feature 11 new songs. I’m not gonna barage you with a bunch of adjectives and cliche descriptions of what it sounds like, but just know that we are more confident and excited to be in this band now because of this record. There was a time that I wasn’t sure if we knew how to write this kind of music anymore, but once we got started what came out was so natural and raw that we have been reinvigorated as friends and as artists. We are very proud and hope that you guys get into it as much as we are. I don’t have many details as far as a release date, but we expect Silent Treatment to hit stores in the early fall. Again, check our myspace page for details, we will update that shit as it comes along. Thanks again for reading all this, and keeping up with what’s going on in our world. See you guys real freakin soon.

Love jeremy ray,

The Bloodies.
