ARTIST OF THE DAY
Glory Of This
Hometown: Pensacola, FL Genre: Screamo, Post-Hardcore, Rock Sounds like: Blessthefall, Emery, Pierce The Veil Current Album: The Lover the Liar the Ruse Myspace: myspace.com/gloryofthis Official Site: gloryofthis.com Glory Of This has been around for awhile, releasing two albums, Adoration and their recent release The Lover, The Liar, The Ruse. I know I posted their myspace and I know they don’t have any tracks up their, but I suggest you check out their purevolume site. Glory Of This has a great blend of melodic singing and hard screams that is sure to impress you. I really love songs such as Circle Yes or No, Flip For It, and Where I Am Now. I wasn’t able to find out much more about the band, whether they’re still around or not, but I do hope they are. Great music. |

In 2000, Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins announces that the Seattle-based rock group will officially break up at year’s end. Corgan claims that he and his bandmates are tired of “fighting the good fight against the Britneys of the world.” Smashing Pumpkins have not played a concert since 2000, until now, where they will not only be touring, but releasing a new album Zeitgeist in July.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
A Skylit Drive
Hometown: Lodi/Gatl, CA Genre: Post Hardcore, Rock, Screamo Sounds like: From First To Last, Chiodos, Thursday Current Album: She Watched the Sky Myspace: myspace.com/askylitdrive Official Site: I came across A Skylit Drive, browsing myspace, typical, I know. But after listening to their songs, I was hooked. Their vocal layerings and ear ringing screams show off the dynamics of each song, put together beautifully. They only have a 7 track EP and I’m impressed throughout. I’m anxious to hear more from them in the future. Some of my favorite tracks include Drown The City and According To Columbus. |

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Lynam
Hometown: Birmingham, Alabama Genre: Rock, Alternative Sounds like: Def Leppard, Hinder Current Album: Slave to the Machine Myspace: myspace.com/lynam Official Site: www.lynamsucks.com I came across this band about 5 months ago when I went to a Eighteen Visions/Hinder concert. They played amazing and sounded great. It was hard not to look at the lead singer and not think Steve Tyler (from Aerosmith). Lynam’s music is great for driving too or just listening to on the beach. Their most recent album, Slave To The Machine plays wonderfully from beginning to end. Some key songs are Tanis (Change Your Mind), Giving Up On Rock ‘n’ Roll, and the heart ballad By Your Side. I’d recommend this album to anyone who’s a strong fan of solid rock, one trait Lynam pulls of very well. |

40 years ago today the cover of the Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album is staged and photographed at Chelsea Manor Studios in London using collage and wax figures from Madame Tussaud’s famous museum. The actual cover is a painting of that photograph. Among the likenesses featured on the cover are Mae West, Shirley Temple, Fred Astaire, Bob Dylan, Tony Curtis, Marlon Brando, Oscar Wilde, Marlene Dietrich and W.C. Fields.
