ARTIST OF THE DAY
A Wish For Marilynne
Hometown: Ocala, FL Genre: Post Hardcore, Emo Sounds like: Taking Back Sunday, Brand New Current Album: Poetic Chaos Myspace: myspace.com/awishformarilynne Official Site: A Wish For Marilynne has been a silent band for some time now. I’ve been listening to their album Poetic Chaos for a couple years now and I haven’t heard anything about them, then again I guess since they split back in later 2005, that would be the reason. Still, it amazes me that everytime I play their album to hear 1 song, I’ve just listened to the whole thing. These guys deserve the spotlight today, and I can promise you, you won’t be sorry to listened. And if you pick up their album, check out their Oasis cover song, Wonderwall. Some of my favorite tracks include Killed By Time, Tale Of A Kindred Spirit, and Bitter Realizations. |

In 1999 it is announced that Lollapalooza, the popular festival concert from years past has had the plug pulled for the second consecutive year. Organizers cite lack of a strong enough lineup, and not wanting to taint the festival’s name with a substandard bill as reasons for the cancellation.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
The Exies
Hometown: Los Angeles, CA Genre: Alternative, Rock Sounds like: Chevelle, Theory Of A Deadman, Breaking Benjamin Current Album: Head for the Door Myspace: myspace.com/theexies Official Site: the-exies.com The internet is a beautiful thing, and if it weren’t for the internet I would have never discovered this band. The Exies have a strong foundation in every song. They write songs that are powerful and some leave you feeling like you were left on a cloud. At the same time other songs bring you right back to earth. They have three album releases with a fourth coming next month. Some of my favorite songs include Inertia, Hey You, and Kickout. |

Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent, the original lead vocalist and keyboard player of increasingly influential ’60s British band the Zombies, thrill a London audience with a two-part show at the Jazz Cafe. The show is the first undertaken by the duo in more than 30 years, and marks the recent U.K. release of “Out Of The Shadows,” their new collaborative album.
