Greeley Estates Updates
It’s been 5 years since Greeley Estates was formed and Dallas has decided to step away from the band for a few reasons. Here’s a lengthy post by Dallas of Greeley Estates:
hey everybody! five years ago when ryan and i started this band, we had no idea that our lil’ project writing songs together would end up going anywhere. we only had one goal for ourselves: maybe we’d play a show by the end of the first year, and if we didn’t, hey, at least we tried.
now, 5 years, 500,000 miles, 1000 shows, 2 entire warped tours, 1 taste of chaos, 7 national & canadian tours, 2 wrecked vans, 3 totalled trailers, and 1 rolled rv later, i’m blown away to think of where our band has ended up!
a series of occurrences lead me to the difficult decision of stepping away from greeley estates, the most important of which being my upcoming plunge into fatherhood. (my wife and i are expecting a baby girl sometime in the next month or so!) this along with some other crazy things happening in my life are putting a strain on my ability to tour as much as we have in the past.
this of course isn’t fair to the other dudes, so we began searching for someone to fill in my spot as a touring guitarist with the intention that he would eventually be able to take over the official lead guitar spot. God provided us with alex, a super rad and talented dude who was able to fill in for me. Well, things progressed a lot faster than any of us had originally thought, and alex is officially now the new guitarist, which i think is a great move for the band. from what the dudes tell me he’s awesome in each and every way. i’m stoked to see what he brings to the table.
it was originally the thought that i’d be involved in the writing and recording of the new album, but i’m sorry to say that since then, the other dudes have decided that they’d prefer me not to be involved and to make a clean start on this album. i can’t say i’m not disappointed by this, but i understand where they’re coming from and they feel it will be best for the album.
anywhoo, this makes my final show at the clubhouse in tempe, az on june 20th my official last hurrah with greeley estates! if you’re able to make it out, i’d definitely love to see you all and say goodbye! i’m requesting that we play some songs we either never play or haven’t played in a while (atom doesn’t lie, always, secret, etc.) so it should be a pretty rad show! come see us butcher your favorites! 🙂
that being said, I just want to take the time to let you know how much all of you fans has meant to me. you’ve shown more love and support than i deserve or could ever begin to repay you for. I realize that we’re nothing special and that we’re just dudes with instruments strapped around our necks and hopefully we’ve never treated you like you weren’t worth our time, because you’ve meant everything to us. thank you for always making us feel welcome in your cities and for taking the time to hang out with us at the shows and at denny’s/tacobell/mcdonalds/whatever happened to still be open at 2am after the shows.
IF YOU NEVER REMEMBER ANYTHING ABOUT ME AGAIN, PLEASE REMEMBER THIS: each and every one of you is important, and your lives have meaning and value, God loves all of you, and you’re no matter how crappy life gets, you’re never really alone. if i’ve ever done anything to make you feel otherwise, i can’t begin to say how sorry i am for it. i love you guys and i’ll miss you.

I wish you all the good things in the world as the band plugs on. applebizzle, I miss you too and hope teaching is going well. brad, I got 5 stars on six on expert. you know what I mean. stewart and judy teggart, thanks for the opportunities and guidance. trent knight, thanks for getting me through my ER rotation and for believing in our band. ed treat, thanks for all the gear you’ve leant us throughout the years. tim towner, thanks for being so involved with our band for so many years. andrew, shane, anton thanks for putting up with us and for keeping us safe on the road and the tours managed so well. thanks to everyone who’s fed, housed, or prayed for our band. we appreciate it.
